Efling's board approved a review of whether the union should leave the Icelandic Confederation of Labour, ASÍ. The union represents about 28,000 workers in the capital region, so a departure would reshape organised labour.
The review comes weeks after wage agreements were extended through 2027. Decisions by unions representing service and care workers can shape pay and conditions that affect prices and services everyone relies on.
