The Centre amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to include E85 and E100 high-ethanol fuels for certified flex-fuel vehicles.
The ministry clarified that existing vehicles need no changes, and E10 or E20 compatibility does not make a vehicle safe for E85 or E100. Using the wrong fuel can damage engines, so commuters should verify compatibility before choosing fuel at a pump.
Check your vehicle's fuel compatibility sticker and owner's manual before selecting fuel at a filling station.
