HYDRAA uncovered an illegal borewell hidden under a mattress in a Madhapur bedroom during a crackdown on groundwater theft.
Illegal extraction lowers the groundwater table that metro households depend on during shortages. Contaminated groundwater near the lake poses health risks, including cancer, liver damage and heart disease, according to TGSPCB tests.
