The Union Cabinet approved eight railway multi-tracking projects costing ₹20,804 crore. One project adds third and fourth lines on the 47 km Whitefield-Bangarapet route, a busy corridor for Bengaluru commuters and Chennai-bound trains.
More tracks on the Whitefield-Bangarapet stretch could allow more frequent trains and fewer delays for daily commuters travelling between Bengaluru's IT corridor and towns toward Kolar.
Track Southern Railway notices for construction schedules and temporary train changes on the Whitefield-Bangarapet section.
